IPA Webinar: Neutrality

This will be a 90-minute live event, including approximately 30 minutes for Q&A following the presentations, allowing the audience to engage directly with both speakers. The format will include one moderator and two panelists:

Presenter Bios:


Dr. Soh Agatsuma 
Dr. Soh Agatsuma is based in Tokyo who has lectured internationally on psychoanalytic technique — particularly on neutrality, countertransference, and culture. Dr. Agatsuma has been an active contributor to IPA discussions and inter-regional exchanges and is well known for his thoughtful and clinically grounded approach. He also participated in the IPA IRED project, translating into Japanese and focusing especially on the concept of Amae — the only entry that originated in Japan — which will also inform his contribution to this discussion.

Dr. Rui Aragão Oliveira
Dr. Rui Aragão Oliveira is a full member and supervising analyst of the Portuguese Psychoanalytical Society (PPS). He has a PhD in clinical psychology, and  taught in the public and private universities. He is the Director of the Training committee of the PPS. Past president of the PPS. Past editor chief of the Portuguese Psychoanalytical Review, and past IPA editor of the PsychoanalysisToday. He teaches at the Psychoanalytical Institute in Lisbon and has been working with clinical groups / IPA with the 3 Level Model. He has published on theory of technique, on paternal function, masculinity, and clinical issues.

Dr. Gizela Turkiewicz

Dr. Gizela Turkiewicz is a clinical psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, and a member of the SBPSP (Brazilian Psychoanalytic Society of São Paulo). She holds a Master of Science degree from the University of São Paulo School of Medicine. She currently serves as Co-Director of the Community and Culture Department at SBPSP (2025–2026).
