On 26 July 1992 one of the founders of the SPI (Italian Psychoanalytic Society), Prof. Emilio Servadio, along with other members who had played major roles in the SPI, addressed the Executive Committee of the IPA with the application to form a Society called the Italian Association of Psychoanalysis (AIPsi.).
The first commitment of AIPsi was to formulate a constitution that reflected the common project of institutional life and science, and particularly, a training institute that would ensure the best training of candidates.
